You will be able to find information here regarding what our plan is for the week as well as access to notes for students who are absent. If there is one thing students can do to help them be successful this year, it is READ!
Students are expected to read FOUR books each quarter totaling 16 books for the year. Students may choose any book they would like to read. I have a library in my classroom, we visit the library twice a month or the students can bring books from home. Students must have an independent book at all times and be prepared for book checks/talks which occur once a week. We are currently discussing word choice and how author's have a purpose for every word and every punctuation mark they use. The more students read, the more they know which will aid in the writing process as we learn to write essays this year. I am looking forward to an exciting 2017-2018 school year! |
Homework The only homework assigned is for students to read their independent books each night for at least 20 minutes. I can tell who reads and who does not during our book checks and book talks. The only other time we have homework is if an assignment is not finished in class. My Expectations
Students are expected to be Responsible, Accountable and Productive at all times. 8th grade English students should always be prepared with paper, pens and pencils, a notebook, a journal and a flash drive. Students are expected to participate and to complete their work on time. It's the student's responsibility to make up in any work missed while they are out. Archives
