Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
The English SOL test is right around the corner. As you know, practice makes perfect. In order to provide as many opportunities for success as possible, the English 8 team is offering an extra credit practice incentive. Commonlit.org is a free, online source for reading practice. Students choose articles and answer text-based questions. Teachers are able to access the data to pinpoint areas of need. Students can choose from any of the assigned passages to earn extra credit points, to be applied to any test. In order to access this resource, follow the steps below:
Have your student notify their teacher they have completed an assignment and once the teacher has checked it, the student will receive extra credit. Students may ask for a pass to see their English teacher during Foxes Den, so long as computers are available. Thank you for your commitment to helping our students succeed! Sincerely, The English 8 Team

Homework The only homework assigned is for students to read their independent books each night for at least 20 minutes. I can tell who reads and who does not during our book checks and book talks. The only other time we have homework is if an assignment is not finished in class. My Expectations
Students are expected to be Responsible, Accountable and Productive at all times. 8th grade English students should always be prepared with paper, pens and pencils, a notebook, a journal and a flash drive. Students are expected to participate and to complete their work on time. It's the student's responsibility to make up in any work missed while they are out. Archives
