We have had a busy first week learning all about policies, procedures and most importantly how to R.A.P! Students have learned how to be Responsible, Accountable and Productive in all areas of the school this week. In 8th grade English we have also discussed our quarterly reading project, how to interview and write an introductory paragraph and details about who we are as readers and writers!
Students were introduced to our quarterly book project which includes reading four self-selected independent books each quarter. The students are responsible for obtaining these books either via the classroom library, school library, Smoot library or another source from home. The students may read any books they choose as long as one of the first four includes a biography. Students will conference with me three times per quarter to discuss their books. |
Homework The only homework assigned is for students to read their independent books each night for at least 20 minutes. I can tell who reads and who does not during our book checks and book talks. The only other time we have homework is if an assignment is not finished in class. My Expectations
Students are expected to be Responsible, Accountable and Productive at all times. 8th grade English students should always be prepared with paper, pens and pencils, a notebook, a journal and a flash drive. Students are expected to participate and to complete their work on time. It's the student's responsibility to make up in any work missed while they are out. Archives
